Early Petition Filers Set Up Primaries In McLean County

Three candidates have filed to run as Republicans for McLean County Coroner. Current Coroner Kathy Davis was appointed to fill a vacancy. Challenging her in the GOP primary next year will be Ryan Gibson and Gary Morefield. Monday was the first day of the petition filing period. The County Clerk's office also says there will be a contested race for County Board in District 10. Josh Barnett will try to knock off incumbent Ben Owens in the GOP primary for District 10 on the County Board.

There will be a lottery to determine ballot position for the Coroner's race and County Board District 10.

Also filing is former County Board member David Selzer. He wants to take the District 5 seat vacated with the resignation earlier this month of Sonny O'Connor. Selzer had served earlier, but resigned to move out of the community for employment. He has since returned to Bloomington Normal. The term would last for two years.

Also filing are the incumbent McLean County State's Attorney, Auditor, and Circuit Clerk. Those are respectively: Jason Chambers, Michelle Anderson, and Don Everhart.
