Durbin Likes Pope's Message

(flicker)

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois is impressed by Pope Francis' joint address to congress. Durbin calls the pope an inspiration not just through his words, but his actions.

"I thought to myself, 'this fella is for real.' I mean, from moving out of the papal apartments into a modest room, from telling all his Cardinals and bishops to stow their ermine capes and red Prada loafers, and genuinely seeking out and spending time with the poor." Durbin escorted an 84yr-old Springfield nun to hear the first pope to address a joint meeting of Congress. Crawford was born and raised in Springfield and is on the board of directors of Sacred Heart Griffin in Springfield.
