A 21-year-old Carlock woman is in custody after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with her vehicle and fleeing the scene, only to be tracked down by police two weeks later.

Deja A. Olive faces preliminary charges of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, failure to give information, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance, Normal police said Friday.

Olive was allegedly behind the wheel around 5 p.m. July 14 when the vehicle struck the 34-year-old pedestrian in the 1600 block of North Main Street, near Raab Road, police said. The injured man was hospitalized at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center with a broken bone in his leg, said Normal Police Lt. M. Paul Smith. He has since been released.

Normal police located Olive in Carlock on Friday. The white 2013 Chevrolet Caprice involved in the crash was located in a business parking lot in west Normal, police said.

Olive is being held in the McLean County jail.

Witnesses to the July 14 incident are asked to contact the police at (309) 454-9614 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.
