Police have released the names of the two victims of a double homicide early Sunday morning.
Bloomington Police and the McLean County coroner's office said Taneshiea C. Brown, 20, and Steven C. Alexander, 18, both of Bloomington, were pronounced dead at 1:17 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Orchard Road.
Coroner Kathy Davis said in a news release both victims had been shot.
Bloomington Police spokesman Elias Mendiola said two other adult victims—one male and one female—suffered gunshot wounds that were not considered life threatening. Both were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions are not available.
Mendiola said police have reason to believe there was a large gathering at 1221 Orchard Road where there were reports of multiple shots fired shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.
"There should be several witnesses to this incident, and we urge them to come forward," Mendiola said.
Mendiola added police are not aware if the victims knew each other. He added police have not said if they have recovered a weapon.
"It's tragic anytime anyone loses their life, but of course someone who is only 20 or 18, they still had a lot of life left in this world," Mendiola said.
Police haven't made any arrests and are asking for the public's help in solving the case. BPD asks anyone with information on the case to contact detective Paul Swanland at (309) 434-2373 or pswanland@cityblm.org and detective Steve Fanelli at (309) 434-2457 or sfanelli@cityblm.org.
