The Bloomington City Council is working together to decrease negativity during council meetings. Alderman Kevin Lower says part of that is being more respectful to the public.

Aldermen met during a retreat to follow up on topics discussed at a council retreat in September.

The group also talked about making the budget process easier and making sure the council knows when to expect recommendations from city staff. City Manager David Hales says they want to keep Aldermen more informed.

Mayor Tari Renner said his overall impression of the meeting is that it was beneficial to the community.

The council planned to attend another retreat this weekend to discuss things such as the city's golf courses and solid waste, but those discussions will be split up into multiple meetings instead.
