Black Voices Matter Theater Festival Opens

New Route Theater

The mission of New Route Theater, is to produce professional quality productions using artists who represent the community in all of its diversity. The company's new offering is a festival of three works "Black Voices Matter." WGLT's Charlie Schlenker talks with Don Shandrow the Artistic Director and Playwright Matty Robinson. Shandrow says multiracial/multicultural theater is important for Bloomington Normal to have available.

Shades by Leola Bellamy opens February 18th at 7:30p.m. Black, by Maya Thompson plays on the 19th at 7:30 in the evening. And Glass Half Black takes the stage February 21st at 2:30 and 7:30p.m. All performances for the Black Voices Matter festival will be at First Christian Church on West Jefferson Street
