District 87 Schools in Bloomington are seeking candidates for two school board vacancies. The recruitment of quality volunteer leaders is a significant issue for boards and commissions throughout the county. And there is an age problem. Most posts are skewing to the retirement age any more. Fewer are up and coming younger folks. At best, they are mid to late career. In this conversation with Charlie Schlenker, District 87 Superintendent Barry Reilly talks about how applications are coming.
Coming up Monday during Sound Ideas on GLT, listen for an interview with Reilly's counterpart in Unit Five. Superintendent Mark Daniel talks about the effort to cut a million dollars from transportation costs and what that might mean for students and families.
