All those photos with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers turned into big money for the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross said Thursday that the April 24 Evening of Stars event featuring Rodgers raised more than $342,000—the most ever raised in one night for the event.

Around 1,100 people attended the 25th annual event at the Marriott in Uptown Normal.

“It was amazing to be a part of this incredible outpouring of support from the community for the Red Cross,” said Kevin Callis, who with his wife, Lisa, served as event co-chairs. “A tremendous amount of money was raised and it will help provide critical Red Cross services to our community.”

The $2.5 million raised at Evening of Stars since 1994 supports local Red Cross services including disaster relief, community preparedness initiatives, blood collection, support for our military members and families, and lifesaving health and safety classes such as first aid and CPR.
