Acousticity Features for November 2014

November 2, 2014 A 70th birthday party for singer/songwriter Chris Smither, who has a new two CD retrospective. There's also a collection of fellow songwriters (including Patty Larkin, Josh Ritter and Mark Erelli) doing Smither tunes. And Chicago Farmer and John Till stop by the studio for some live tunes, prior to their Folk Night at The Castle.

November 9, 2014 "Sake of the Sound" is the debut from a great new northern California bluegrass band called Front Country. Plus conversation with The Travelin' McCourys, who grace The Castle stage this week, about their new recordings and life on the road without Del.

November 16, 2014 An interview with original members of The Steeldrivers, who bring their hard-driving bluegrass sound to central Illinois this week. Plus, a stirring new neo-traditional Celtic band called RUNA, whose latest release is "Current Affairs."

November 23, 2014 "Look to the Wind" is a new collection of recordings, made by artists like Emmylou Harris, The Milk Carton Kids, and Gillian Welch, of songs originally released by Johnny Cash in 1964 on the album "Bitter Tears."

November 30, 2014 Who would have thought that an album of banjo duets could be so diverse? Perhaps not a surprise, if the banjo players are Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn (they're husband and wife as well as musical partners.) Plus, our annual rebroadcast of Arlo Guthrie's "Alices' Restaurant."
