Dann Nardi from the studio January 12 – February 17, 2018 Gallery Talk: Thursday, February 15, 6-7pm See the contemplative drawings and constructions currently on display in the MCAC Brandt Gallery, and hear first hand the artist's thoughts behind the development, construction, and impact of the work. Regarding his art, Nardi stated,"It seems to me that the one underlying concept which remains consistent within my work is an on-going interest in a kind of territory that exists between things. Common materials such as concrete and plywood have served as my medium to structure the work in various scale and context, to elicit architectural references and subtle organic complexities. I feel as if I am continually looking for a sense of order and logic within abstracted, fragmented, geometrical forms of a minimalist nature. How these forms, surfaces, and spaces connect to larger orders within our world and our experiences, alludes to and suggests feelings of time, spirituality, and relationships between man and nature." Nardi lives with his wife Brenda in Normal, Illinois and continues to be active in the studio. He is currently working on an outdoor sculpture commission for Rood Bridge Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.
