The 1st annual GLT Bocce At The Village is a friendly competition played by 2-person teams on outdoor grass courts on the beautiful lawns of Normandy Village. There will be a couple of food trucks on site (the Popper Pod has already said yes!) and Stave Wine Bar will vend adult beverages from one of the charming gazebos on the property.
Bocce ball is fun for the whole family and easy to learn. We'll hold a double-elimination tournament with 32 teams. First round winning teams will continue in the Leaders Bracket; first round teams coming up a bit short will continue in the Also-Rans Bracket (because you're all winners to us). Champions will be crowned and prizes awarded in both brackets. GLT provides the sets of game balls. Food trucks, Stave beer/wine bar, and a couple of buskers providing a musical backdrop.
A team is 2 players and your $30 registration fee includes one 2017 GLT Bocce At The Village tournament t-shirt for each player. WOW! That's a deal. You'll pick up your shirt at the venue on Saturday, September 9th.
Bocce t-shirts are available for sale separately and will also be picked up at the venue on September 9th. (We can arrange to ship yours, if you can't get to the tournament, but shipments won't go out until the week of Sept 11th.) We'll only have a few for sale at the tournament. If you want to be sure you get one, order it online now.
If you prefer watching to playing bocce, that's great! Gather a group of buddies to cheer for you favorite team, sip a beer or a glass of wine in the lovely setting, chow down on grilled poppers and carnitas tacos, and enjoy live music on the green.
Volunteer to help! We need line judges, score keepers/runners, and help with registration. Email Linda Healy if you can spare a couple hours that day.
In addition to being just a darned good time, all GLT events are fundraisers. We can't bring you any of them without the incredible support of our sponsors. We thank them and encourage you to take the time to thank them, too!
